Care is available at both our Torrington and Bristol offices, with on-site X-ray, physical and occupational therapy, and many procedures performed at the Litchfield Hills Surgery Center.
Common conditions we treat
- Rotator cuff tears — injury to the tendons that lift and rotate the arm — common with age, overhead work, and sports
- Shoulder impingement and bursitis — inflammation causing pain when reaching overhead or behind the back
- Shoulder instability and dislocation — a loose or dislocating joint, often after injury in younger athletes
- Labral tears — injury to the cartilage rim that deepens the shoulder socket
- Frozen shoulder — progressive stiffness and loss of motion, often without a clear injury
- Shoulder arthritis — cartilage wear causing grinding, stiffness, and night pain

Treatment always starts with the most conservative effective option. Depending on your condition, your plan may include:
- Physical therapy to restore strength and mechanics
- Anti-inflammatory treatment and targeted injections
- Arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery for tears and instability
- Total and reverse total shoulder replacement for advanced arthritis and irreparable rotator cuff damage
When to see a doctor
See us if shoulder pain wakes you at night, you can't raise your arm normally, the joint has dislocated, or pain persists beyond a few weeks. Sudden weakness after an injury may indicate a tear that's best treated early.
