Orthopedic Trauma & Fractures
Every one of our surgeons treats fractures and traumatic injuries. From simple breaks to complex trauma, we provide urgent evaluation, casting, and surgical fixation.
Our specialty-trained doctors evaluate, diagnose, and treat the full range of orthopedic trauma & fractures conditions and injuries — always starting with the most conservative effective option, and offering advanced surgical care when it's needed.
Care is available at both our Torrington and Bristol offices, with on-site X-ray, physical and occupational therapy, and many procedures performed at the Litchfield Hills Surgery Center.
Common conditions we treat
- Fractures of the arm, leg, hip, wrist, and ankle — from simple breaks to complex, multi-fragment injuries
- Dislocations — joints forced out of position by injury
- Tendon and ligament ruptures — acute soft-tissue injuries that need timely repair
- Fractures that didn't heal properly — nonunions and malunions from prior injuries
How we treat them
Treatment always starts with the most conservative effective option. Depending on your condition, your plan may include:
- Urgent evaluation with on-site X-ray
- Casting, splinting, and bracing for fractures that can heal without surgery
- Surgical fixation when alignment and stability require it — every one of our surgeons treats fractures
- Follow-through rehabilitation to restore full function, not just healed bone
When to see a doctor
Any injury with deformity, inability to bear weight or use the limb, severe swelling, or numbness needs same-day evaluation. For obvious emergencies, go to the ER or call 911 — we coordinate closely with Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and can manage your follow-up care.
