Hip
From hip pain and labral injuries to advanced arthritis, our hip specialists offer the full range of care, including modern hip replacement performed by high-volume surgeons.
Our specialty-trained doctors evaluate, diagnose, and treat the full range of hip conditions and injuries — always starting with the most conservative effective option, and offering advanced surgical care when it's needed.
Care is available at both our Torrington and Bristol offices, with on-site X-ray, physical and occupational therapy, and many procedures performed at the Litchfield Hills Surgery Center.
Common conditions we treat
- Hip arthritis — cartilage wear causing groin pain, stiffness, and difficulty with shoes and socks
- Labral tears — injury to the cartilage rim of the hip socket, common in active adults
- Hip bursitis — inflammation on the outside of the hip, painful when lying on that side
- Hip fractures — breaks that typically follow a fall, requiring prompt treatment
- Hip impingement (FAI) — bone shape mismatch causing pinching pain with deep flexion
How we treat them
Treatment always starts with the most conservative effective option. Depending on your condition, your plan may include:
- Therapy, activity modification, and anti-inflammatory care
- Image-guided injections for diagnosis and relief
- Hip arthroscopy for labral and impingement problems
- Modern total hip replacement for advanced arthritis — many patients walk the same day
When to see a doctor
Groin or hip pain that limits walking, stiffness that makes dressing difficult, or pain that persists at rest warrants evaluation. Any suspected hip fracture after a fall needs immediate care.
