Care is available at both our Torrington and Bristol offices, with on-site X-ray, physical and occupational therapy, and many procedures performed at the Litchfield Hills Surgery Center.
Common conditions we treat
- Carpal tunnel syndrome — compression of the median nerve at the wrist causing numbness, tingling, and nighttime hand symptoms
- Trigger finger — a finger that catches or locks when bending
- Wrist and hand fractures — including distal radius (wrist) fractures — among the most common breaks at any age
- Tendon injuries — cuts or ruptures affecting how fingers bend and straighten
- Arthritis of the hand and thumb — wear at the base of the thumb and finger joints causing pain with pinch and grip
- Ganglion cysts — fluid-filled lumps near joints and tendons, usually harmless but sometimes painful
How we treat them
Treatment always starts with the most conservative effective option. Depending on your condition, your plan may include:
- Splinting, therapy, and activity changes as first-line care
- Injections for tendon and nerve conditions
- Surgery — including carpal tunnel release and microsurgery — performed by two fellowship-trained hand surgeons
- Certified hand therapy on site, so surgery and rehabilitation happen under one roof
When to see a doctor
Hand numbness that wakes you at night, a finger that locks, weak or painful grip, or any injury with a visible deformity should be seen. Nerve compression treated early tends to recover better than nerve compression treated late.
