Dr. Douglas Wisch earned his medical degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, where he also completed a general surgery internship and his orthopedic surgery residency, serving as chief resident and clinical assistant instructor. He completed a hand/microsurgery fellowship at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
Dr. Wisch has lectured and authored professional articles on topics in hand surgery. He is an attending physician at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, where he has served as chief of orthopedic service, and is the most experienced hand surgeon in the region. In his practice he offers specialized hand and upper-extremity therapy and advanced procedures, including microsurgery and injections.
He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, with subspecialty certification in surgery of the hand. He has been peer-nominated and named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor for several consecutive years.
