A Connecticut native, Dr. Christopher Betz earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut in Storrs before graduating from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine with his medical degree. He completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Hofstra University, North Shore-LIJ Health System, and Peninsula Hospital Consortium in New York, followed by advanced fellowship training in orthopedic sports medicine at UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester.
Dr. Betz specializes in sports-related injuries with a focus on the knee, hip, and shoulder, utilizing the newest techniques to get patients back to their activities. A keen researcher, he has authored numerous journal publications and presented at professional society meetings. He has served on the medical staff for the New Britain Bees and the Bristol Blues, and previously for the Red Sox organization and the athletic departments of Worcester State University, Becker College, central Massachusetts public and prep schools, and Long Island public high schools.
An active sportsman himself, Dr. Betz spends his spare time weight lifting, running, and playing basketball and volleyball, and enjoys martial arts, drawing, painting, playing guitar, and cooking.
